What the Pot Hanging Cowl does

The Pot Hanging Cowl connects the chimney pot and a stainless steel twin wall flexible flue chimney liner. It removes the need for a clamp plate and a separate chimney cowl during installation.

This creates a stronger and simpler stove or insert installation. It also helps reduce rain water entering the flue and then the stove.

The cowl uses a cage type stainless steel mesh housing to help stop birds nesting in the chimney. It also helps protect the chimney from rain and moisture penetration without restricting chimney performance.

Technical information

The Pot Hanging Cowl uses full stainless steel construction. It suits solid fuel systems and includes 1 inch by 1 inch stainless steel mesh.

It is manufactured to EN16475-7:2016 and EN1856-1:2009 and is CE marked. It also includes a 12 month guarantee against faulty materials and workmanship.

What the Pot Hanging Cowl will not do

This chimney cowl will not prevent downdraught in your chimney. If you need to stop downdraught, choose a H Chimney Cowl.

It will not create an updraught or increase chimney performance. If you need that, you will need a chimney fan.

It will not completely stop severe driving rain or horizontal rain in coastal or exposed locations. For that, a Static Anti Downdraught Chimney Cowl is the better option.

What comes in the pack

The pack includes one Pot Hanging Cowl and two quick release worm drive straps.

Fitting and compatibility

The Pot Hanging Cowl is easy to fit and only requires a screwdriver. It connects to a flexible chimney liner and most chimney pots with an internal diameter up to 12 inches or 300 mm.

The leg length is 175 mm, which helps it fit decorative chimney pots with lips, ridges, or bulges. The spigot end slides inside the flexible chimney liner and the shorter quick release worm drive strap holds it in place.

You then pull the flexible flue chimney liner down so the Pot Hanging Cowl sits centred on the chimney pot. The longer quick release worm drive strap then fixes the cowl to the chimney pot through the welded loops.

Once fitted correctly, the Pot Hanging Cowl will stay secure in high winds.
