What the H Chimney Cowl does

The H Chimney Cowl is a stationary anti downdraught cowl built for British weather. It is made to solve bad downdraught problems on both short and long chimneys.

This cowl suits single-storey dwellings, bungalows, and taller chimneys. It also gives strong protection against extreme driving rain and moisture ingress.

How the H Chimney Cowl works

In calm weather, hot gases and smoke rise through the top vertical tubes and leave the chimney. In turbulent weather, downward air movement helps draw smoke out through the cowl.

If wind moves upward through the cowl, the Venturi effect still helps remove smoke. If wind blows across the roof, the four openings help pull smoke from the flue.

The H shape also shields the flue from rain. This makes it one of the best chimney cowls in the range for stopping rainwater entering the chimney.

Material and size

The H Chimney Cowl uses robust stainless steel and has no moving parts. That gives long service life in exposed weather conditions.

It is only available in a stainless steel finish. It fits standard 200 mm and 230 mm chimney pots, which match 8 inch and 9 inch sizes.

It also suits decorative chimney pots within that size range. The product includes a 1 year warranty.

Fitting

Fitting is simple. Insert the 190 mm base of the chimney cowl into the top of the chimney pot.

Then fasten the strap with the nut and bolt. Tighten it fully with a screwdriver.
